The mercury is falling. It's a clear night, no wet blanket of fog to trap the city heat. All around the San Francisco bay, temperatures are sinking towards icepoint.
It's 44 degrees outside and 55 degrees inside. The pilot light in our furnace is out. I can't figure out how to get the grate up, nor am I competent to light the darn thing. Water is heating for the hot water bottle. And in a moment. I will dodge into the shower for a full body warming experience before I dive under the covers. Brr.

Freezing, schmeezing, California Girl.
The low here in scenic Windsor, Colorado last night was 11. Right now it's 30, which is probably about as warm as it's going to get all day.
Yeah, but you have heat. It was 48 degrees IN the house when I went to bed last night.
