86 on the chakka chakka

I had to pull the plug on my houseguest this morning. You see, it was 6:30, the sky was getting light and we still hadn't been to bed. I'm a firm believer in getting to bed before dawn. It doesn't matter if it's 20 minutes before dawn. As long as I am snuggled down before the sun is up, it counts as going to bed last night.

The thing is, my friend LaCheika is visiting from SoCal. While we talk on the phone a few times a year, and keep up via instant messenger from time to time, we haven't had a decent face to face since I roadtripped Route 66 with a side helping of Lost Wages. In short, our genie "BlueStreak" has been pent up for 5 years. Trying recorking THAT bottle, MmmHmmm. The only silence in the last 48 hours was while we were sleeping.

Happily, we're motivating each other. She helped me get myself in gear to get health insurance yesterday, today she finally ordered business cards after I niggled her 30 times. Tomorrow is schoolwork day and I -will- be tackling section 2036(a)(2) of the Infernal Revenue Code so that I can finally wrap my head around it. Our pact is bed by a decent hour and solid work done tomorrow. Of course, I'm not laying odds, but... it's good to have a study buddy.
