Giving thanks

I always dress for Thanksgiving dinner. It's my way of honoring the ancestors, whether they be those who came early: the first Mennonite preacher in America, those captured by indians in Delaware, survivors of the American revolution, or those who came late: arrivals from middle european countries that no longer exist, names changed for the convenience of those filling out papers on Ellis Island.

Family aside (for reasons that rhyme with BoME) I prefer to spend the holiday with friends. My favorite incarnation of Thanksgiving means the opportunity to spend it with SupahDan + MLE and her family in the wilds of northern California. This year, I got my wish. Well 98% of it.

Prior to the official holiday I got to spend time with the dynamic duo in a more local environs. Tuesday I had a morning class, and then met up with the MLE-Dan. Morning bonus: All day free parking for their car. We were Haighters. We ambled. Later we fed parking meters for Heidi. A requisite stop was made at Vesuvio's, the one bar that has more happy memories for me than all others in the entire Bay Area combined. Joy!

Wednesday MLE left early for Clovenhoof, while SupahDan and I took a more leisurely approach to the day. He made the fantastic discovery Game Store I have experienced to date. For those who want to know, it's GameScape just south of Fell Street on Divisadero, in San Francisco.
From there we ambled north, making occasional stops and enduring the trail of tears that is Highway 101 from the Golden Gate Bridge to the highlands. Extra special bonus of the day was stopping off at a friend's place that has murals painted by the same artist who did the murals in Lily Coit's penis, I mean watchtower. Yay for real live art.

Now, I'm resting comfortably, ample cheeks of flesh spread across the coffee table instead of a proper chair. I made a fabulous breakfast, MLE+MLEMOM+SupahDan+Me made a fabulous thanksgiving meal. Much delicious booze was consumed, primarily by me. Tomorrow, back to civilization, Saturday, back to eviscerated puppies & storm clouds.

This post brought to you by peem, meep qeew and weeq. And Coffee Monster, because C is for Coffee, and that's okay with me.

You say you always dress for Thanksgiving. Does that mean, as opposed to going nekkid? >;)
