Exam review

One of the more awkward moments for me is exam review. This is where you sit down and examine what went wrong with your exam in comparison to the professor's example of what should have gone right. Last week I met with Professor Property (whose comments included "this was a troubled exam" and "this part is just sad"). The initial compare and contrast was not terrifically helpful. However, after I had gone over my own excessively weak answer and compared it with the model answer, Professor Property and I sat down and talked about the aspects which could have been better, and in what way.

My professor had some good ideas, however I think the awful truth is that, despite what I have been told, I am a pathetically bad writer. At this point, I think I am going to have to cough up for a private tutor.

In other news, I need a faster brain. Mental processing capacity also seemed suspect in the context of exam review, as the Professor suggested that faster mental organization might be a factor in bad performance as well.

You're not a bad writer at all! BUT you might not yet have a tight grasp of legal writing. Definitely get a tutor to show you how to take your writing skills and apply them in a legal context.

I mean, I'm a really good reader, but I can't read legal stuff at aaaaall. In my uneducated opinion, that means it must be written in a style not usually taught to or read by most folks (even those who normally excel in language/writing).

Thanks Anu.

This past year was the year of major, futility of life questioning depression. Part of it no doubt is law school and the vast portions of my ego that are wrapped in it, but part of it is just regularly scheduled mid-life crisis.
