Figuring out my future

The law school student orgs have been putting on a number of panels with practioners this semester. So far I have heard about race in the law, labor law, public interest law: gay rights, reproductive rights, and tonight, I had hoped IP law. It turned out to be only Patent law, a small subdivision of IP, which was quite a disappointment to me as I don't have a science background. I did discover that it is possible to be a Patent Litigator without the requisite background in science, or having passed the Patent bar. Still, I think I am more interested in conventional patent law, than I am in high tech law. The panel was lovely regardless, and I really thank the student groups who take the time to put these events on.

Unsolicited wooden nickel:
1Ls - go to these events if your school has them. You get to hear about what real life practioners have to say about what their work life is like, what their family life (or lack thereof is like) and what parts of law school they find relevant to their practice. Plus they feed you.
