A good vinaigrette

TheRoommate is out of town. When the cat's away, the mice will play. Here, the mice will cook with mustard, as TheRoommate is quite allergic to that particular substance. Tonight's dinner was some leftover tri-tip and a healthy dinner salad with just the right coating of emulsified red wine vinegar, olive oil, salt, pepper, and dijon mustard.

Unfortunately, tonight is also monkey cage cleaning night. Clearly, monkeys have been jumping on the bed. I don't know how else to explain the utter chaos of tracked dirt, strewn laundry, ridiculously unhygenic bathroom and kitchen floors, etcetera etcetera.

Out in the garden the pea plants have started giving up the gold. I'd much rather be outside planting tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs, but tomorrow is another day. I hope it's just as sunny as today was.
