The trick is to wear something red in the garden, say a red & navy plaid nightgown circa 1993.
Quietly watering my herbs, young Hummingbird came to check out the new red tower of flower. Then he noticed the rainfall over the whisky barrel of greeneries. He checked out the perimeter of the spray, ducking in and out, and then sat on a wire and fluffed his wings and tail.
Bath complete, he flew off.
I'm pretty sure it was a young male, given size, coloration and curiousity level. Wish I'd been able to get a picture.

Some of the best scenes just have to remain in our noggin rather than be digitally immortalized.
But maybe your hummingbird will come back. He might consider that red tower of flower his territory.
