Traumatic week for friends

Last week my friends from the UK, a newly married couple, were clipped from behind and ended up as the stars of the early morning traffic snarl. Their vehicle flipped 3 times just as the morning commute was beginning. Both are rather beaten up, but have no broken bones. One friend lost a good part of her scalp skin, the other seemed to have a mild concussion and a lot of bruises.

It defies all logic that bones were not broken or worse damage sustained.

Meanwhile, another friend, a recent breast cancer survivor drove herself to the ER with chest pains. No heart attack, just a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot, lodged in her lung.

Meanwhile, another friend disclocated her knee and is facing arthroscopic surger just as she wants to change jobs. It's so hard to look like a winner when you stump in on crutches.

Youse out there, take care! Drive alertly and defensively. Wear your seat belt. Cut back on the ciggies. Take a walk. Guard your health, money will not replace it.
