Last night at six pm, the California State Bar finally lowered the boom on all who took the exam during the last week of July. I have not finished tracking down classmates, but so far only one sad story among many sighs of relief and joy.
UPDATE:
In addition to the one known sad story, my best friend from law school didn't pass either (although the hot republican did). I have no idea what to say to these close friends who took but did not pass the July exam. Very, very, bright people do not pass on the first time. My boss didn't. Several of my professors did not. Friends have taken it multiple times. I judge no one negatively for not passing the first time or two.
But the question remains. After all the hard work and the mental, physical and emotional investment, what do you say to the person who didn't pass?

Say, I'm sorry and I won't tell anyone. Leave it up to the person who failed to tell those s/he wants to know.
