Allergic to wool?

For the second time in as many weeks I pulled on a wool sweater, only to start sneezing immediately. Right now it feels like dueling kittens were playing "scratch" with the back of my throat and those little tunnels that go up into your ears.

WTF?

Wool pants don't seem to pose a problem, and neither does the extremely fine gauge woven wool scarf from Ecuador. Sweaters, even my supersoft part cashmere, part bunny angora sweater, bring on the itchy ears & throat.

I'm so allergic to wool that I can't even knit with it (more than about 20% wool and I want to scratch my hands off), which is a huge shame because there are so many projects I can never do. You need wool in order to felt something.

Sorry about your newfound itchiness.

I have the same problem and having a huge problem finding sweaters, cardigans etc. that will be warm.
Any suggestions?
