Last day of Summer remarkably like first day of Fall

It may not read like a newsflash, but! It does not rain in the 9 bay counties in September. --throught gritted teeth-- It simply isn't done.*

Apparently summer ended last week, but there will be a few make-up days in the coming month, before Autumn takes its official residence.

Meanwhile, the Engaged were here. Generally fun was had, although dinner was an anti-climactic product launch as the basil broth with vegetables never made it out of beta testing. And while the individual lasagnaceae were warmly received, the shrimp sauteed in a compound butter (lemon, oregano, shallot) was not a robust product. Lastly, post-release engineering reveals that basic pots de creme can be salvaged in post-production by bringing the cold, broken custard back to room temperature, whirling it in a blender, and repouring for a prolonged frigidation.

*Except when it does. The weekend was a bluster of weak storms delivering patterings of rain across the bay counties, from as far south as Watsonville.
