Resistance was Futile

I watched the Battlestar Gallactica pilot Sunday night.

It's kind of embarrassing to admit how much I loved the original when I was a kid. On the other hand, it's interesting for purposes of compare and contrast to call forth memories of that dim dark past. I can see that Katee Sackhoff spent some time watching the old episodes, how do I know this? She's copied facial tics from Dirk Benedict, original actor for the character.

Other calls from the past make me think that the director was heavily influenced by another movie about humans versus droids. First, the "old" model (non-humanoid) Cylons seem far less reminiscent of Cylons from original BSG and much more like Clones. Second, take the image of Starbuck doing push-ups in the brig. Ok, now cut to Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) doing calisthenics in the loony bin. See what I mean? Terminator 2 is all over parts of this. I'm gonna laugh if there are liquid metal creatures.
