I'm on call for Criminal Procedure tomorrow. This means re-reading Monday's cases, and fully briefing those for tomorrow. I'm completely uninterested in Criminal law in the general instance, but I have to admit that constitutional issues grab me by the eyeballs regardless of the criminal nature of the issues. As a result Crim Pro is much more interesting than Criminal Law ever was. That said...
The outcome-specific opinions from the conservative courts which place a higher value on aiding law enforcement than securing our ability to be safe from the governement gall me through and through. I try to be intellectually pragmatic, but apparently I have an idealistic streak that has not yet been killed off. I find myself avoiding the reading for this class because the opinions stir so much dispair and rage. Maybe that is the fuel required to be a criminal defense attorney. I suspect it might eat me up and spit me out. Do I have the mettle for that? Does it matter considering my interest in technology and all things nerdy?
Distract me! Call Me! Really!
