Yesterday was near perfect weather wise. Sunny, blue, slight breeze. Marred by being a tad bit cool for me, but otherwise just dandy for Feblooary. I drove down to the coast, arriving just before Sunset. It was nice to peer out over the ocean as the sun went down staining the sky apricot and mango colors and ending up looking surprisingly the color of a tequila sunrise. I was wolfishly hungry though, so I didn't stay for the bitter rhubarb end, and instead headed off to the first restaurant I could find. It happened to be an empty, yet amazing Thai place. Then I remembered that a friend had raved about it early last spring. Superb Larb, which is sort of my test food for a good Thai place. Not only did they ask my spicy heat requirements, they did it just right. All flavors were juicy and fresh. You can't fake that or disguise it as you might with curry. That's why larb gai is the test dish.
While I was there, I was reading court opinions for a paper I'm working on. Seems that about 12 years ago Scalia & Co (wren twist & MeToo!) got fed up with groups like the Sierra Club actually protecting our environment, so he substantially raised the standing bar for environmental organizations. His language is so vicious, dismissive and condescending at the same time. Why could that man not have some honey in his veins instead of the ice cold vinegar that seems to circulate.
