Lately I have been running into people I know, unexpectedly and sometimes in odd places. Yesterday, between classes I was ambling around the neighborhood near school, mumbling to myself as I read through murder flashcards. I looked up and saw a familiar vehicle. My friend DJ Mermaid just happened to be passing by. It was a great, special surprise. 3 minutes later, I saw an acquaintance out in front of his house playing with a giant soap bubble maker. It was such a nice surprise to see people unexpectedly. It feels like community to me.
Several weeks ago, the same thing happened when I was driving by a store and saw an old coworker's truck parked out front. I went in and talked with her for a while, and while I was there a woman who had been in a class I took in the spring came in and we got to reacquaint.
Yay for meeting people!
