On the train home last night, a man saw my Barbri review guide* and apologized. I wasn't sure what he was apologizing about. It turns out he thought I was studying for the bar exam, nope, I'm a lowly 1L floating through school with the naive aura that only 1Ls exude. I was reading the Barbri first year study guide, to see what they said in their overview of negligence in Torts. We got to talking about summer jobs, and the importance of Judicial externships. Turns out our boy is from Yale, which explains why he gets to clerk for the big guns. [edited: bitterness is not becoming]
* Unsolicited advice for next year's 1L students. Call the BarBri office over the summer, find out who the rep for your school is. Maybe send a resume. If they are not taking applications, find out what will be the first day they are on campus. Introduce yourself to the rep, follow up on the resume if you sent one. In short, get the gig to be a BarBri rep for your class. This will save you a substantial amount of money your third year. It doesn't pay, but you get to take the Barbri review case for free.

Thanks for the bar/bri rep advice. If I do send a resume/cover letter, what should I say? Since this is an upaid position... just wondering how that would work.
