last day

today was the last day at my job.

I spent a significant chunk of my life there. The other day I was talking with friends and we were telling stupid coworker stories. Someone asked me to tell a stupid coworker story. I thought for a moment and replied "lemme tell ya about a woman I worked with at my last job..." I told the story of a former coworker whose 5th grade daughter had approached her for help. The girl wanted to run for student council and needed to write a speech. She wanted her mother to help her write that speech. My sad, pathetic coworker's response was that she was busy, watching television. That was my clue that I needed to get out.

In my current job, there are no stupid coworkers, no doofus who provides the comic relief, no one whose path through daily life makes you cringe. I considered that -I- might be the stupid coworker, but even that's not true. Lazy yes, stupid and inept, no. This made leaving for school a very difficult proposition.

I'm going to miss those people.
